Yes. We have arranged for a collection location in Toorak in Melbourne. Please note that they are just providing a service for our customers and have no knowledge of the product or our business.

WHAT IF I AM NOT HOME WHEN MY DE ARRIVES?

We use Fastways and Australia Post. For Fastways you can mark the package (ATL) Authority To Leave so the courier can leave the package on your door step if this is suitable for you. Fastways provides insurance for packages. If the first delivery attempt is unsuccessful you can contact them to arrange an alternate time, or to have it delivered to a local business that holds Fastways packages in the area such as the local newsagents or chemist. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR FLEAS AND TICKS USING DE

Powder the head of the animal first including their ears. You may want to put a cotton ball in the ear so the powder does not go deep into the ear. Do the animal’s hind end next. Apply to the whole body, rubbing their fur backwards while applying the powder. This way the powder will be in contact with the skin. Fleas will start to drop off. You will definitely want to do this out of doors! Don’t’ forget the animals bedding and kennel or run or any area where they frequent.
If there are fleas in your home you will have them in your carpet and upholstery. You will have to apply the DE to the infested areas. The best way we know of to apply the product is with a good, old fashioned Flour Sifter right from your kitchen. Walk back and forth while turning the handle and the powder will fall straight down. Make a thin coating then rub it into the carpet to get deep down where the fleas live and eggs are waiting to hatch a rake it much better to use to spread than a broom and will reduce the dust created (remember to wear a mask as DE is harmful if inhaled) Leave the powder on overnight, then vacuum lightly. The more you leave in the carpet the better. This procedure will have to be repeated in a week or so as the eggs hatch until you gain control

CAN I USE DE ON MY GARDEN?

DE IS great for use in the garden. Being non-toxic and environmentally friendly, diatomaceous earth is an ideal growing medium for a wide range of plants, fruit, greenhouse vegetables, orchids and bonsais. It is lightweight and able to absorb up to 150% of its own weight in water. The porous structure of the diatoms supports its ability to draw water and to move water and nutrients laterally through the growing medium. It can provide a natural alternative to ‘water crystals’ and does not dissolve in water.
It can be used to kill moving bugs such as aphids, fleas, ticks, ants, bed bugs and all manner of insects

IS DE HAZARDOUS?

The IPM Practitioner, Monitoring the Field of Pest Management, William Quarles, Volume XIV, Number 5/6, May/June 1992 offers information on the safe and not safe types of Diatomaceous Earth.
Diatomaceous Earth used in pool (any water) filtration contains Diatomaceous Earth that has been chemically treated and heated making the silica crystalline which is a dangerous respiratory hazard and lethal if ingested. The fresh water naturally occurring Diatomaceous Earth deposits that are designated “Food Grade” by the FDA have less than 1% crystalline silica and all other sediment that are considered unsafe are also below harmful limits. These deposits are primarily Amorphous Silica which is harmless when ingested and is commonly used in feed and food industries.
The Department of Agriculture in Michigan said in a letter “Our animal pathologist has examined the vital organs and intestinal components submitted, both macroscopically and microscopically, and has found no visible evidence of organ abnormalities.
These components consisted of brain, thyroid, rib section, lung, heart, liver, true stomach, small intestine section, large intestine section, pancreas, kidney, bladder, and forestomach.
These organs were submitted under affidavit as being from a slaughtered dairy cow having FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR added to the feed for approximately five years.”
University of Illinois, referring to tests run on dairy cattle fed 2% of FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR as an anti-caking agent in their rations, stated there was no apparent harmful effect and that there was no evidence of the Diatomaceous Earth in the milk.
The University of Arkansas did a study to determine whether the addition of Diatomaceous Earth was harmful to chickens. Their conclusion: “It posed no threat.”
